The general manager of the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority says the resurgence of the Falls Reserve Conservation Area is one of their success stories from 2016.
Phil Beard says the biggest reasons for that success were the fact they cut back to basics to keep costs down, the on-line reservation service was very popular and, like all of us, they enjoyed great weather last summer. Beard points out they're somewhat limited in what they can do, but if the weather's good it's going to be a good year for campers.
He says that combination of factors resulted in a $70,000 surplus, which they can now put into infrastructure projects on the site and the big one there is upgrading the septic system for seasonal campers.
