Mosque Shooting Victims Remembered In Owen Sound, Kincardine

Prayer services and candlelight vigils are planned for Owen Sound and Kincardine on Friday to show solidarity with the local Muslim community.

The Mosque on 7th St. E in Owen Sound is hosting a prayer service and sermon Friday afternoon at 1:15pm. It's open to the public, but everyone will be asked to remove their shoes in the Mosque, and women must wear a headscarf to participate.

Friday evening, a vigil is planned in front of the Kincardine Islamic Centre, starting at 6pm. The centre is at the corner of Broadway and Queen streets in Kincardine.

These events are being organized to show local Muslims and other newcomers that hate has no place in our society.

Six men between the ages of 39 and 60 were killed and 19 others were wounded when a gunman stormed a mosque in Quebec City last Sunday and opened fire during evening prayers.
