Farano's Hat Trick Secures Dutchmen Victory

Steven Farano's third goal of the game stood as the game winner as the Kitchener Dutchmen topped the Cambridge Winterhawks 5-3.

Connor Cole assisted on all three of Farano's goals including the game winner midway through the second. David Kiss, Ashton Stockie and Adam Kawalec each helped set up one of Farano's goals.

Cambridge's Ryan Shaw scored back-to-back less than four minutes apart in the first period to give the Winterhawks a 2-0 lead. Luke Bignell answered for Kitchener with a short handed goal just over a minute later. Farano scored back-to-back at 15:51 and 19:43 to give the Dutchmen a one goal lead heading into the second.

Jordan Oshowy scored on the power play at 3:41 of the middle frame to tie the game again.

Brendan Valko added insurance for the Dutchmen with less than two minutes left in the game.

Jackson McIntosh earned the win with 28 saves. Ryan Wagner stopped 11 of 14 shots before being replaced in the second period. Max Wright made 13 saves on 15 shots in relief.
