The public comment period is now extended on Ontario Power Generation's proposed Deep Geologic Repository to store low and intermediate level nuclear waste underground in Kincardine.
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency announced an extension Friday for people to comment on new information provided by OPG.
OPG responded to the Environment minister's order to study other sites, by looking at the possible impact of building the repository at unspecified sites other than the Bruce Power site.
OPG found the costs and risks would be increased if the nuclear waste had to be moved elsewhere.
People now have until March 6 to study the new information and make comments, before the CEAA makes its recommendation to the the Ministry of the Environment on the fate of the plan.
