Goderich Parks Supervisor Announces Retirement

Goderich will be looking for a new parks supervisor this spring.

Martin Quinn has been the town's park supervisor for the last 11 years but is retiring in March.

Quinn says he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in Goderich and the people he works with every day. He also says there's not doubt the biggest event during his 11 years in Goderich was the tornado in 2011.

Quinn says the F3 tornado was devastating but also provided a unique opportunity. His first reaction after a piece of steel smashed through his roof, a few feet away from where he was sitting, was they had to get crews out and roads open.

He says in the days that followed, he realized they now had an opportunity to redesign the town and its park, and the result is they now have a truly unique and diverse variety of trees and the town has recovered very well.
