Owen Sound Hospice Gets Donation From Grey County

Grey County has made a significant contribution to Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound.

County Warden Al Barfoot presented a cheque for $200,000 to Chapman House officials.

The facility that provides end of life care is currently under construction in Owen Sound.

Executive Director Scott Lovell says the money will go a long way to helping them reach their fundraising goal.

"Incredible shot in the arm for this project. $200,000 goes an awful long way when you're constructing a facility like this.  We're really grateful for the decision that they made to support us the way that they did," said Lovell at the cheque presentation at the site of the hospice.

All of the $4.2-million for Chapman House construction is coming from community fundraising. Lovell says they're now $600,000 from their goal. It's expected to open this spring.
