Funding For New Walking Trail At Listowel's Memorial Park

North Perth has received funding for a new walkway and lighting on both sides of the Middle Maitland River for Memorial Park.

That's thanks to the federal government's approval of a 150th grant application for $109,000.

The Memorial Park Rehabilitation Committee plans to install the walkway from Davidson on the south to Maitland Terrace, from the bocce courts to the new bridge.

On the north side, the walkway would go from the new bridge, along the river to Walton Ave. N. And then between the ball diamond fence and the river, back to Davidson Ave. N.

The total project is expected to cost $327,000, with the municipality providing $118,000. and the rest coming from fundraising.

Planning is still underway, but the grant states that the project must begin this year, and wrap up by March 2018.
