More municipalities in Midwestern Ontario are reporting that 2016 was a banner year for building activity.
A year-end report by Wellington North Chief Building Official Darren Jones shows $30.5-million in permits issued 2016. That compares to the ten-year average of $24-million.
There were 248 permits issued in 2016, compared to the ten-year average of 223.
Meaford’s building department reports a total of 240 permits were issued, worth $27.8-million. That's a 7% increase over the number and value of permits issued in 2015.
Of the 240 permits issued, 33 were for new homes.
Earlier this week, North Perth also reported a record-setting year for construction activity.
The municipality issued permits valued at almost $62.5-million. That was a jump from $43.1-million in 2015.
