Local Building Activity Strong Going Into 2017

More municipalities in Midwestern Ontario are reporting that 2016 was a banner year for building activity.

A year-end report by Wellington North Chief Building Official Darren Jones shows $30.5-million in permits issued 2016.   That compares to the ten-year average of $24-million.

There were 248 permits issued in 2016, compared to the ten-year average of 223.

Meaford’s building department reports a total of 240 permits were issued, worth $27.8-million.   That's a 7% increase over the number and value of permits issued in 2015.

Of the 240 permits issued, 33 were for new homes.

Earlier this week, North Perth also reported a record-setting year for construction activity.

The municipality issued permits valued at almost $62.5-million.  That was a jump from $43.1-million in 2015.
