2016 was another record-breaking year for building in the Municipality of North Perth.
To the end of last year, a total of 368 building permits were issued, with a value of almost $62.5-million for 144 dwelling units.
By comparison, the municipality issued 336 building permits in 2015, with a value of $43.1-million, which was for 97 dwelling units. In 2014, there were 74 dwelling units created.
New farm construction in 2016 totalled $8.6-million; new commercial construction was estimated at $3.1-million; and new industrial construction was approximately $1.25-million.
The chief building official for North Perth expects the strong building trend will continue in various property types throughout 2017.
