There was a lot of discussion at Wednesday's Huron County council meeting around the potential for sharing recreational facilities.
Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan explained that Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel initiated talks involving Bluewater, Huron East and Central Huron, primarily as a result of the increasing costs in maintaining recreational facilities.
MacLellan suggested they approach the province for funding to hire a consultant to take inventory of what exists in the county and conduct a study to determine what county residents want.
He also suggested that as many municipalities as possible get involved because the larger the group, the more likely it would be that the province would support the project.
Mayor Tyler Hessel has an appointment to meet with the recreation minister at this month's ROMA conference and anyone who would like to join him would be welcome.
