Retiring AMDSB Director Highlights 2016 Accomplishments

The director of the Avon Maitland District School Board says he's very pleased with results of the board's new strategic plan over the last year.

Ted Doherty says the focus is very much on student outcomes and the results this year have been encouraging.

More students are leaving school with a diploma or certificate and are placed in appropriate pathways going forward.

Doherty says they're also working with a couple of universities to help them take advantage of technology, in particular in robotics and in coding.

The number of international students coming to Avon Maitland Schools is another positive story and he believes that's good for the students as well as their host schools and communities.

The board will also choose a new director this year as Doherty is retiring, and he says that always brings new ideas to the system.
