Saugeen Shores Trolley Nominated For Award

Saugeen Shores' S.S. Trolley is a finalist for an Economic Development Council of Ontario Award of Excellence.

The trolley was named in the Building/Infrastructure category, and winners will be announced at a banquet in Toronto February 9.

Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce GM Joanne Robbins says the trolley makes dining and shopping between communities more accessible, offering an enjoyable way to explore Port Elgin and Southampton.

She says business owners noticed an influx of visitors to their establishments as the trolley gained popularity.

“We’re proud to be a finalist for an EDCO Award and are looking forward to offering the Trolley service throughout Saugeen Shores again in the summer of 2017,” says Robbins.

In 2015, the Chamber of Commerce began collaborative discussions. In 2016, it purchased the vehicle and began design of signage, rrolley stops, route design and more.

The project received funding from the Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Saugeen Shores, Regional Tourism Organization 7 and Bruce County.
