The chair of Huron County's Economic Development Board believes one of the economic development highlights of the past year was the collaboration between the county and the lower-tier municipalities with OMAFRA on their strategic economic development plans.
Jim Lynn points out that while each municipality has its own particular issues, they also have many common concerns. He adds that the process was able to identify those and encourage municipalities to work together to address those issues.
Lynn says the restructuring of the county's economic development department was another achievement that will continue to evolve.
Looking to this year; Lynn says it's time for the board to decide what Huron County is, and should be. He says the county needs to identify two or three areas that they can focus on and have the most impact on. Lynn says he believes it's time for Huron County to decide on its identity and brand itself accordingly in a way that makes former residents want to come back to Huron County and out-of-town people want to visit.
