The fire was reported in the 800-block of Queen St. at about 2:29am on Thursday.
Kincardine firefighters and police arrived to find blaze burning in an apartment.
The OPP are continuing to investigate with the assistance of the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Robert, 71, was last seen September 4 walking along O'Loane Avenue.
