Bruce Grey's Bill Walker Most Talkative MPP

Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker was the top speaker at Queen's Park in 2016, with 127,965 words spoken.

That's according to final tallies from OntarioMonitor. Walker says he takes his responsibility to be a voice for his 107,000 constituents very seriously. He says he does his best to deliver the message from residents in Grey Bruce during any debate at Queen's Park.

Key issues that Walker most frequently debated included rising hydro rates, education funding, reduced access to health care, long term care beds, and growing debt.

Walker says he believes that each of the issues shows a marked contrast between what the government promised, and what they have actually done during their last 13 years in power.

Walker credits his open-door policy for the steady feedback he gets from constituents.

He averages 180 words a minute, getting more words in during the same amount of time, than many of his colleagues.

“It’s true that my delivery is at times rapid, but that’s part my auctioneering skill and the passion I bring to issues that are important to the people I’m honoured to represent in the great riding of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound,” he adds.

"I like to think of my debate style as straightforward. It’s my job to hold the government accountable and when I’m challenging the current government, I like to ask the hard questions and stick to facts and figures rather than rhetoric."
