Ontario Finance Minister Says Federal Health Offer Falls Short

Ontario's finance minister says proposed federal health transfers fall $12-billion short of what evidence shows is needed over ten years.

Charles Sousa says the provinces need long term stable funding to continue to provide quality care, especially in light of an aging and growing population.

He is disappointed that the federal government is offering base funding increases of just 3.5% a year.

Sousa says that will not sustain core health services, and the total federal share will fall from 23% to 20% of health costs.
