Erin Murder Still Unsolved On One Year Anniversary

Police say a murder victim found near Erin was last seen alive on this day exactly one year ago.

Wellington County OPP say on December 17, 2015, at 6:42am, the body of Frederick “John” Hatch was found east of the 10th Line off Wellington Rd. 124.

The 65-year-old was was last seen in the Ottawa area on December 16, at a Dollar Tree Store.

Police have not yet determined how Hatch travelled from Ottawa to Erin, but he was known to hitchhike.

Hatch wore a denim vest with mickey mouse characters, a black leather jacket, a blue and white bandana, glasses, and black Harley Davidson boots. He was also seen carrying a red duffel bag.

Investigators have been using a moving billboard van, a text message canvass and an offering of a $50,000 Reward to help solve the case.

Police urge anyone with information regarding Hatch's murder to immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or the nearest police authority. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
