Huron County's CAO says there was never any doubt the county would be supporting next year's International Plowing Match in Walton.
But Brenda Orchard explained to county council Wednesday that staff felt it was important for councillors to know just what the cost was likely going to be.
Orchard says the figure at this point is around $600,000 with $100,000 of that being a repayable loan and much of that being in-kind expenses.
Orchard also points that just represents the cost and doesn't acknowledge the money coming back to the county that comes with about 100-thousand people attending the match.
Orchard says in the past county was presented with bits and pieces of costs from different departments but that didn't provide an accurate look at the overall cost to the county.
