West Grey Residents Sign Bed Closures Petition At Rockwood Terrace

West Grey Council and the "Save Rockwood Terrace LTC Beds Committee" will hold a public meeting in the new year to talk about options and actions.

The committee presented council with a petition this week signed by over 3,200 people concerned about the loss of Long Term Care Beds at Rockwood Terrace.

Grey County wants to move 100 Long Term Care Beds to Grey Gables in Markdale.

Committee Spokesman Stephen Townsend says citizens feel they aren't getting information from the county, and want to share their opinions with West Grey prior to the release of a county report later this winter.

He told council there is land available to rebuild Rockwood Terrace.

Mayor Kevin Eccles confirms he contacted landowners whose lands would be made available for the re-build, and a submission has been passed on to the county

The county warden, CAO and director of long term care are also invited to the public meeting January 23 at 7pm at Durham Community Centre.
