BlackburnNews.com photoWellington North has worked out its first ever agreement to help maintain haul routes from two new gravel pits.
Up until now the municipality received only the provincially mandated payment, which now stands at 6 cents per extracted tonne.
Among other things, the agreement calls on the pit owners to contribute $10,000 for maintenance of the road used to haul the gravel from the pit.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
