Shoppers in St. Marys, Mitchell and Listowel demonstrated their 'spirit of Christmas giving'.
Members of the Perth County OPP Auxiliary Unit set-up cruisers and police vehicles Saturday in front of three grocery stores. They were hoping to fill the vehicles with donations of non-perishable food.
In St. Marys, 18 shopping carts full of food were collected in front of the McDonald's Independent grocery store, filling three cruisers.
In Mitchell, 10 shopping carts full of food were collected in front of Walkom's Value Mart. The filled the OPP prisoner transport van.
And in Listowel, 12 shopping carts full of food were collected in front of the Zehrs store, filling two cruisers.
All the donated food was given to the Salvation Army food banks in the three towns, for local distribution.
