Another Term as Warden For Huron-Kinloss Mayor

The mayor of Huron-Kinloss will have a dual role again in 2017.

Mitch Twolan was the only Bruce County councillor to put his name forward during Thursday's warden election and was acclaimed to the role for the third-straight term.

Twolan says it's an honour to once again take the helm of county council, pointing out it's especially significant as Bruce County will celebrate its 150th anniversary throughout 2017.

As for the challenges in the coming year, Twolan says advancing the natural gas proposal for the southern portion of the county and the SWIFT broadband project will be big priorities in the year ahead.

He adds the county's economic development partnership with Bruce Power is also an area of focus.

"If we can attract some businesses to come into Bruce or Grey or Huron County or wherever, and bring with that more jobs and sustainability to help more people out, obviously that's a high priority for me," says Twolan.

It's the first time in 135 years that a Bruce County warden has served at least three consecutive terms and Twolan says he's humbled by the distinction.
