Students from Elgin Market Public School in Kincardine had to be transferred to a nearby church today after a strong smelling odour was detected by staff.
Officials are at the school trying to determine what is causing the odour and say there is no immediate danger at this time.
However, Elgin Market is closed as investigators search for the problem and the YMCA After School Program has been cancelled.
Students will be bused home at their regular time.
