Southern Bruce Communities Go Forward With Natural Gas Expansion

The Municipalities of Kincardine, Arran-Elderslie and Huron-Kinloss say an historic Ontario Energy Board decision recognizes access to natural gas can help reduce energy costs in unserved communities.

A recent ruling from the board supports competitive bidding and a level playing field to help attract new suppliers.

The board adopted a number of positions the southern Bruce County municipalities were asking for because the current regulations created barriers to natural gas expansion.

Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie says there is now a path forward for the group to continue to work with EPCOR to bring natural gas services to the area as soon as possible.

Huron Kinloss Mayor Mitch Twolan says the innovative and creative approach to obtain competitive proposals for gas expansion had not been done before in Ontario.
