South East Grey Community Health Centre Uses Grant To Expand

South East Grey Community Health Centre officials are excited about an expansion in the facility and programming thanks to a $500,000 Ontario Trillium foundation Grow Grant.

“This Ontario Trillium Foundation funding will help expand the reach and enhance the positive impact of the great work the South-East Grey Community Health Centre is already providing to people of all ages in the community," said Bill Walker, MPP for Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound. "Through increased promotion, education and connecting care providers and opportunities across the area, and an expanded facility, the people of the area will have better access to health programs and services and their healthcare will be better as a result."

The project is aimed at expanding senior's and youth programs. It will include the construction of a community kitchen for teaching, and food preparation. A new elevator will improve accessibility.

"This is great news for the people of South East Grey,” said Terry Mokriy, chair of the South East Grey Community Centre. “The Community Health Centre is already seen as the leading provider of health promotion, primary care and community development services and programs within the Townships of Southgate, Grey Highlands, Chatsworth and West Grey. This infusion of money through the Trillium Foundation will increase the services we are able to offer to the most marginalized people of these municipalities”
