Central Huron council has agreed to go ahead with a dog park in Auburn.
A delegation representing residents from Auburn approached Central Huron council recently with their request for an off-leash dog park and Mayor Jim Ginn says the municipality is willing to provide it.
Ginn explains the park would be on land owned and currently maintained by the municipality.
The major cost for the park would be fencing and he says the municipality will put in the posts so they get them where they want them but the residents of Auburn will fund-raise to cover the cost of the fencing.
Ginn says the fact that the people who want the dog park are covering the majority of the cost makes it a much easier decision for council.
Ginn says he's not sure of the timelines for getting the park ready for use but he suspects it might be next summer before people are actually walking their dogs there.
