Area veterans were honoured in Owen Sound Sunday for their service and sacrifice for their country.
The annual Honouring Our Local Veterans ceremony is put on by the Billy Bishop Home and Museum.
Donald Doran was among the five honourees. He says he was amazed by all the people who came out for the ceremony.
"It is an honour with a capital 'H' it really is, to recognize what little or what great you have done. Here we have a whole bunch of people to say thanks to us," says Mr. Doran.
Another honouree, N.H. Edward Wells, was appreciative for the recognition of the common soldier.
"It's the little lost soldier, he's never mentioned very much other than a whole bunch of them went over, 10,000 were killed or something. It means quite a bit to a person who has been through it all," says Mr. Wells.
Other veterans honoured at the ceremony in Owen Sound -- Henry Hopkins, Thomas Hopkins and Alfred Rackley.
