$168K Doled Out by Community Foundation Grey Bruce

The Community Foundation Grey Bruce distributed over $168,000 in grants at a celebration in Owen Sound.
The community grants and capital funding was handed out to 35 charities and not-for-profit organizations from across the region Thursday evening at the Best Western Inn on The Bay in Owen Sound.
The recipients expressed gratitude to the organizations, individuals and families that generously invested in the future of the two counties with endowment funds and legacy gifts through the foundation.
Recipients included new saddles for the Pegasus Riding Association Nurturing Challenged Equestrians,  the Roxy Theatre, for a new roof, and a new kids splash pad in Port Elgin.
The Meeting Place in Tobermory received support for facility upgrades, and funding was donated to events for the students at the Bluewater Regional Science and Tech fare, and money will support   the Huron Shores Hospice.
Since its inception in 1994, Community Foundation Grey Bruce has distributed over $2.55 million in charitable grants.
Grants, scholarships and bursaries totaling $640,000 will be disbursed by the end of 2016
 In her remarks to the crowded ballroom, Board of Directors Vice Chair Joan Eaglesham said “Every year, community foundations across the country make a commitment to improving the quality of life in their communities by supporting programs and projects of local non-profit organizations that serve in the fields of education, recreation, environment, culture and social services. Community Foundation Grey Bruce is no different.”
