More Finger Pointing At Southgate Council Meeting

Sparks continue to fly at Southgate council.

Mayor Anna Marie Fosbrooke got raked over the coals by fellow councillors during the regular Wednesday night meeting. Fosbrooke was accused of defying the wishes of council by seeking out extra reports from the municipal auditor.

Deputy Mayor Norm Jack told Fosbrooke to "quit treating council like a one-woman show."

Fosbrooke defended her actions saying she will not stop searching for answers if she does not understand some part of council business.

Meanwhile, Southgate CAO Dave Milliner listed a number of issues between municipal staff and some unnamed members of council.

Milliner said it would have been his preference to deal with issues of "staff morale" in closed session, but council decided to hold it in open. He explained that after some council meetings, he has to calm down staff, and at other times, work with staff who are threatening to quit.

He concluded by saying it boils down to a lack of trust between staff and some members of council.
