The expansion project for the Goderich harbour has been delayed until spring.
Port Management Corporation President Roland Howe has announced that because of delays in getting the final engineering design completed and contractual availability, it made more sense to wait until spring to start construction.
Howe says they are getting contracts in order and materials purchased so as soon as it's possible in the spring they'll be ready to go. They'll be working within the breakwall, so once the ice is gone they'll be able to start construction.
The harbour expansion will cost about 16-million dollars and add about three acres of land to the harbour.
