Federal Funding A Boost For Blyth Memorial Hall Renovations

The Township of North Huron is getting a significant financial boost toward the renovation of the Blyth Memorial Community Hall.

A sum of $979,907 in federal funding will help see the project through.

Sharon Chambers, North Huron's chief administrative officer, says the money will certainly help not only with this project but all of the renovation efforts being undertaken in Blyth.

"It is specifically related to the cultural spaces, so, the theatre portion of the project but it does allow some of the funds that we received under the provincial grant to be re-allocated to some of the other initiatives that we have going on in the community," says Chambers.

The grant money comes as part of the federal government's Cultural Spaces Fund and will be paid out in two separate allotments over the next two years.

The Blyth Memorial Community Hall renovation project is slated to be completed in time for the 2017 Blyth Festival Season and comes in at $3,800,000.
