Kincardine Wants To Restructure Bruce Telecom

Kincardine Council is holding a public meeting next month to look at proposed changes to the way Bruce Telecom is run.

Currently the municipality owned business is managed as a Municipal Services board pursuant to the Ontario Municipal Act.

That means it is more or less a modified department of the municipality. Statutory limitations can constrain the board's activities, planning, and financial management.

The proposed conversion to a Municipal Services Corporation means Bruce Telecom would be established as a company under the Corporations Act, solely owned by Kincardine.

That would give a new board of directors more flexibility to work with the management team to develop business and maximize potential.

Residents can learn more at a meeting at the Davidson Centre October 27th at 7pm.
