The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board has released results of standardized tests from the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
Although the province has witnessed a decrease in math results, Bruce Grey's primary and junior students have maintained their levels of achievement.
The number of Grade 3 and 6 students who met or exceeded the provincial standard was very close to the provincial average
However, grade nine math students are trailing the average slightly.
In Applied math, 40% were at or beyond expectations, while the province wide average was 45%
In academic Math, 79% met the standard, compared to an 83% provincial average.
76% of first time eligible students who fully participated in the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test met the grade. The provincial average is 81%.
The board results remain steady over a five-year period with an average of 81%.
The results from EQAO identify necessary areas for growth.
The goal for the Bruce-Grey CDSB is for students to demonstrate global competencies supported by literacy and numeracy skills. The board will also continue to ensure that assessment practices are personalized and precise in meeting student needs.
Director of Education Jamie McKinnon says, “There are many ways we measure the success of our Catholic schools and EQAO is one of them. We will continue to meet the needs of our students through targeted support and quality instruction.”
