Two people escaped unharmed following an early morning fire on Black Line, northeast of Bluevale.
Fire crews from the Wingham, Howick and Blyth fire stations responded to the scene shortly after 5am Tuesday.
North Huron/Morris-Turnberry Fire Prevention Officer, James Marshall, tells CKNX News that they had been to this address earlier this summer as part of their door to door smoke alarm campaign in Morris-Turnberry and that thankfully the home did have working smoke alarms.
"There were two people home, they were awakened, they did have functioning smoke alarms and they were able to get outside," says Marshall.
Ontario Provincial Police closed Black Line between Harriston Road and the B-Line Road for emergency personnel, the road remains closed.
North Huron Fire Chief David Sparling estimated the damage to more than $200,000.
There is no word yet as to the cause of the blaze, though the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to assist in the investigation.
There have been a couple of fires in the same area this year.
