Open House Scheduled For Walkerton Official Plan Review

Brockton Mayor David Inglis is promoting the upcoming open house for the review of the Walkerton Official Plan.

It's set for Thursday, September 29 at the Walkerton Fire Hall, starting at 7pm.

"That will be a come-and-go, there will be county planners there with maps and so forth to look at any changes that need to be made in our official plan.  There will be recommendations from the public, council, and from county planners," explained Inglis.

An official plan mainly deals with where new housing, industry, offices and shops will be located; what services like roads, water mains, sewers, parks and schools will be needed; when, and in what order, what parts of the community will grow; and community improvement initiatives.

The Ontario Planning Act requires all municipal official plans to be updated every five years. The existing Walkerton Official Plan was approved in December 2009.
