The Huron Christian School in Clinton is hosting a BBQ Friday night at the school to launch and celebrate what principal Nick Geleynse calls the biggest renovation project in the 55-year history of the school.
Geleynse says they're hoping to add about 4,000 sq ft to the school as well as bringing it up to date and providing new learning spaces.
He explains one of the major focuses is an expansion of the primary end of the school and creating group work areas.
They also want to create an open and inviting lobby or foyer at the front of the school which would also include administrative offices.
Geleynse says they also want to move the stage to improve sight lines as well as crate a performing arts room.
Geleynse says increasing enrollment is one of the drivers for the renovation but they also want to bring the school up to date.
The total cost for the renovations is about $3-million and they expect to raise that in about a year and a half.
Geleynse says total enrollment at the JK to Grade 8 Huron Christian School is currently 159 students and growing. They're also currently advertising for another bus driver so they can expand their bus routes.
