New Master Plan Will Guide North Perth Recreation

A North Perth Parks and Recreation Master Plan will set priorities for the next decade or more.

Monteith Brown Planning Consultants was awarded the contract. with a bid of just over $66,000.

Recreation Director Steve Hardie says they'll review the services currently being offered.

"Are we meeting the needs of the residents, are there different things that residents would like to see, are there different directions that we should be looking at going, are there new initiatives that we should be looking at, So basically taking a look at what we're doing now, what we'll be doing in the future and what we could be doing better," he explains.

A steering committee has been appointed including staff, recreation advisory committee members and council members to oversee the project.

Stakeholder groups and residents will all have a chance to comment on the future of parks and recreation services in North Perth.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
