The Town of Goderich is ready to move ahead with the scaled-down expansion of the harbour.
Original plans called for a $47-million project that would see another 15 acres of land added to the harbour before Compass Minerals pulled out of the project.
Mayor Kevin Morrison explains the scaled-down expansion will start with the creation of three acres of land at a cost of just over $16-million.
Morrison says $9.5-million will come from a major infrastructure reserve fund and the MTO is providing just over $7-million for the project.
The bylaw confirming the project was approved at last night's council meeting and Morrison says the work will start as soon as possible.
