Perth OPP Investigate Graffiti In St. Marys

Perth County OPP officers are looking for the culprits behind a number of graffiti incidents in the town of St. Marys over the past few weeks.

Large obscene symbols were painted on the welcome to St. Marys signs on the east and west sides of town.

Police say it takes money and resources to remove and repair the signs, taking money away from other community programs and services.

Graffiti destroys property and a conviction under the criminal code can include up to ten years in prison.

The OPP will operate focused patrols to try to catch the vandals.

If graffiti or persons applying graffiti are observed report it to the police immediately. If you know who is responsible, contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
