Mitchell Player Going To Japan For Baseball Camp

The Mitchell Astros Peewee team is sending one of their players on a unique trip.

Pitcher and outfielder PJ Marshall will be flying to Japan for a baseball camp August 17. The 11-year-old baseball fan spoke about how he got the opportunity.

"The Ontario Baseball Association sent out an email to many coaches, and my dad was one of them. He told me about it, so I wrote my essay and signed up," he says.

Marshall had to write an essay for the Ontario Baseball Association in order to be selected, and will be one of the five Canadian ball players going over. He says he loves the sport of baseball, and has some favourite players.

"I would like to keep playing baseball as long as I can. I love the sport," says Marshall. "I cheer for the LA Dodgers and Blue Jays. Josh Donaldson is definitely my favourite player. As far as pitchers, I'd have to say Chris Sale and Clayton Kershaw."

Marshall says he is excited to get a tour of Japan and learn about the culture, and is grateful to have been selected.

"I really want to thank the Ontario Baseball Association for selecting me," he says. "I think this is an amazing opportunity."
