Huron County Company Ready To Charge Provincial Plan

The vice president of sales for a Huron County company that manufactures chargers for electric vehicles says one of the biggest problems for the industry has been the lack of chargers.

The province recently announced a goal to build 500 chargers across Ontario by March of 2017.

Chris Misch of Sun Country Highway, based out of Brucefield,  says the focus is on connectivity between major cities and along the 400 series highways with 200 Level 3 chargers and 300 Level 2 chargers.

Misch explains it takes 20 mins to charge a vehicle to 80 per cent capacity with a Level 3 charger and four to six hours using a Level 2 charger.

And the company has already installed a network of Level 2 charging stations in the local area along the Lake Huron shoreline and Bruce Peninsula.

Misch adds the faster Level 3 charger is geared for business people travelling from city to city while the Level 2 charger is ideal for tourists who are spending and afternoon or even staying overnight in one location.
