A group of OSCVI supporters in Owen Sound are considering options now that the province is staying out of the fight to save the high school.
The Save OSCVI committee had appealed to the Ministry of Education to review the Bluewater School Board's decision to amalgamate the high schools in the city. All high school students are to go to West Hill starting in September. But the ministry has said it will not intervene.
Save OSCVI committee member Judy Keeling says they're disappointed with the government's decision but not surprised.
She says an option is to appeal to the Ontario Ombudsman, but they're running out of time.
"The process was set up in such a way that it would make it very difficult to do anything to stop things once the wheels are in motion so it makes it very difficult indeed," says Keeling.
Those opposed to closing OSCVI say the accommodation review process is flawed and does not consider the overall effect on a community of closing a school.
