Conners Earns Final Spot in Canadian Open Field

Listowel's Corey Conners is making his fourth consecutive appearance at the RBC Canadian Open this week.

Conners tied Ben Taylor and Chris Hemmerich for third at 3-under 69 in the Final Qualifying at DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill.

Taylor birdied the first playoff hole to claim his exemption. Conners edged Hemmerich on the second playoff hole to claim the final spot into the RBC Canadian Open.

Conners told Golf Canada, "I've been playing really well all year and I really like where my game is at. The atmosphere of being a Canadian and playing at the RBC Canadian Open is really cool. You see young kids who want autographs and there are a lot of people cheering for you, so it's a great feeling and something I'm looking forward to experiencing again."

There are a total of 107 Canadians in the field at the RBC  Canadian Open. It begins Thursday at Glen Abbey in Oakville.
