Southgate Gives Up On Collecting SPIRG Debt

Southgate has decided to give up the long battle to collect court-ordered costs of over $40,000 from a citizens group known as SPIRG.

A news release states that after two years of trying, the township has decided the chances of getting the money will be "difficult, if not impossible".

SPIRG challenged a building permit issued to a recycling company in the Dundalk Industrial Park.

While Southgate will not be spending any more time or money on the debt, the debt will not be written off, but will remain on the Township books.
