Accessible Boardwalks Installed In Saugeen Shores

The waterfront in Saugeen Shores is more accessible.

New boardwalks have been installed at the George St. beach access as well as off of the Eidts Grove parking lot to provide easy access to the shoreline, while protecting the sensitive beach environment.

In partnership with funding from Bruce Power, the Town of Saugeen Shores coordinated the purchase and design of accessible boardwalks.

Students in the construction class at Saugeen District Secondary School and teacher Bud Halpin built and installed the boardwalks.

"Once again we are impressed by the students’ ability and determination when it comes to enhancing our community. The boardwalks are providing access for all while protecting the sensitive beach dune environment on the waterfront," says Frank Burrows, parks manager with the Town of Saugeen Shores.
