A recent review released by Environment and Climate Change Canada suggests that the remainder of the month of July may very well be warmer than normal.
The month of June saw fairly normal temperatures for this time of the year, with conditions generally dry right across the region and the province.
"That's the way thins are shaping up. We certainly finished up the month of June and it was around seasonal values in many areas in the southwest overall, the trend though from the forecast models is indicating that the month of July is expected to be overall a little warmer than normal," says Warning Preparedness Meteorologist, Geoff Coulson.
Coulson notes that we'll most likely see more severe weather on what they refer to as transition days; where we move from hot humid air masses to cooler air masses.
Heavy rain and stormy weather is possible starting on Wednesday afternoon and into the latter part of the week.
"We've got a situation like that developing on Wednesday, we start to see at least a little bit of reduction in the high levels of temperatures in the 30's as we move from Wednesday into Thursday," says Coulson.
Temperatures are also expected to be higher than usual for the month of August as well.
