Bluewater Presents Potential Unique Billing Model

The mayor of Bluewater presented a unique idea at a recent meeting between his municipality and Central Huron and Huron East to explore the potential for sharing services.

Tyler Hessel explains he and Deputy Mayor Jim Ferguson were looking at possibilities, and it occurred to them that banks and credit card companies all use one source for their billing, and that could be a viable model for municipalities that all bills for things like taxes and utility bills and do payrolls. Hessel says the only difference is the letter-head.

He suggests a few municipalities both inside and outside of Huron County might be able to source that work out to one company, and save a significant amount of money, and free up staff for other work.

Hessel also used the example of craft breweries in Huron County that all send their bottles to the same place to have them cleaned, and save money by sharing the cost.
