A Naming Committee recommends renaming Georgian Bay Secondary School: Georgian Bay Community School.
The school will be converted to a grade 4 to 12 school in the fall, while St. Vincent Euphrasia will accommodate JK to grade 3 students.
A recent funding announcement has confirmed the Bluewater District School Board can build a new JK to grade 12 school in Meaford, which will then be called Georgian Bay Community School.
Three suggested names were considered: Georgian Bay Community School, Georgian Bay District School or Georgian Shores Community School.
Meaford Community school is closing.
The board votes on the proposed name tonight.
