Huron Economic Board Working On Immigration Policy

Huron County's Economic Development Board is in the early stages of implementing an Immigration Policy.

Board Chair Jim Lynn says they are hearing from business owners that there is a need for an addition to the local workforce -- ranging from semi-skilled to professionals.

Lynn feels one of the challenges in attracting people to Huron County is getting the message to the urban centres that there are opportunities in rural communities.

That leads to the broader issue of highlighting the benefits and identifying a brand for the county.

Lynn points out that while jobs are important, anyone coming to Huron County is going to want to feel welcome; be able to get the kind of food they're used to; and find the kind of arts, culture and recreation they're comfortable with.
