Western Wardens Approaching Province Over OMPF Cuts

Huron County's Warden says the Western Wardens Caucus is now prepared as a group to approach the Province in regards to cuts to the Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding.

Paul Gowing explains a brief prepared by Middlesex County going back to 1997 and the creation of the Farm Tax Rate, clearly outlines some of the issues that have resulted for rural municipalities. Gowing says so far the Province has heard from Huron County about the problems the funding reductions have caused, but all fifteen counties in Southwestern Ontario are dealing with the same problems, so it makes sense to approach the Province as one region.

Gowing adds the fifteen counties represent over two and a half million people, so that should get the attention of officials at the Provincial level.
